Winter Recap

Can you believe that it’s already March and that Daylight Savings Time starts this weekend?  It’s been a busy couple of months at CPYC!  A grand time was had by all at the Commodore’s Ball (though we are now spoiled and may need another lobster dinner soon!) as well as at the Oyster Point Cruise Out Brunch, and we have had a full line-up of social events including a Chinese New Year Dinner, a Superbowl Party and a “Farewell to Winter” Regatta Dinner with some super-yummy cold-weather comfort food.

Many of our sailors have also had a very busy winter racing season.  Beside three regular Club races (well, two considering last weekend’s was cancelled due to 30+ knot winds and torrential rains), we have had four Sunday races with two more scheduled in March.  We have also had a decent showing of CPYC boats in Sequoia’s Redwood Cup, the Corinthian Midwinters where Steve & Jocelyn Swanson and crew claimed third place in their division, and of course the Three Bridge Fiasco where Mike Haddock and Laura Gammill on Hot Ice won first place in their division!

If you have been missing out, there are plenty of upcoming opportunities to join in on the fun!  This weekend Linda Bullis is throwing a Gumbo & Zydeco Fundraiser party on Saturday night, 3/12, and next weekend is the Spring Shorteez Regatta and Regatta Dinner celebrating National Corndog Day with some of our favorite childhood foods!  As usual, most of our regular Club races and Regatta Dinners are the first Saturday of every month, and our Wednesday Night Rabbit Racing series kicks off on April 13th.  On Friday, April 15th, CPYC is hosting the South Bay Opening Day Kickoff Party with a Hawaiian feast and our friend Dave Badilla will be back in the house to keep us dancing late into the night.

As always, keep your eyes on the weekly email blasts for the latest news on what’s happening at the Club.  Don’t forget to open your monthly billing statements to hear from your Commodores, and if you’re on Facebook, get signed up on the CPYC Members Only page to keep in touch.  Contact Yvette at if you need to get added to any of these lists.
