Mr. Tiki reports that a good time was had by all that attended the Jack London Square Cruise. The boats departed Saturday morning for the run to JLS.
All we knew at departure was that guest berths were in the basin between Kincaid’s and II Pescatore. Calypso arrived first, deciphered the slip numbering scheme and learned that the berths were in a row along the sea wall. To make things interesting there is a kayak rental/lesson concession that uses the basin as a teaching area…. the novice kayak paddlers all seemed smart enough to at least try to get out of the way as Calypso came down the channel…
Calypso slipped into the assigned berth and assisted the other boats as they arrived. The fairway was a little tight, but all cruisers managed to berth without incident.
Due to some cancellations we had a small cruise fleet of 4 boats, and we lost one more shortly after arrival when Fair Lady decided they couldn’t connect to the available shore power and decided to go to Oakland YC for the night. The crews of Calypso, The Boat and My Michelle proceeded to explore JLS and/or putter around the boats for the afternoon.
It was during this afternoon time that Mr. Tiki took off for a cruise on the tender to My Michelle. Mr. Tiki’s not talking about what transpired, but later conversations indicated that he may have meet Chopper Dan’s father.
We all met up for dinner at II Pescatore Restorante Saturday evening. The food was excellent and the restaurant has an interesting display of vintage record players from old time Gramaphones to ‘60’s turn tables.
The fleet departed at various times Sunday for the return to Coyote Point. All arrived home safely and are looking forward to the April cruise for the Chili Cook off at Westpoint Harbor in Redwood City.
CPYC cruisers are encouraged to sign up now for the Westpoint cruise. The harbor master is working with your Cruise Leader to arrange the party barges and slip assignments close to the barges to create a center area for the chili cook off action. It will really help us to know an accurate attendance count early.
We hope to see you in Westpoint harbor next month!
