Vice Commodore’s Report

It has been a wild 6 weeks for the House; to start with, we replaced the Regatta room carpet and re-tiled the Regatta room kitchen floor. With that completed, we moved upstairs, stripping and refinishing the main dining room, and repaired the floor near the galley, which turned out very nice. The kitchen was next and required a thorough cleaning of all the equipment; this was all done in the first two weeks of January while the club was closed.

With these major projects completed we moved on to minor problems such as the telephone lines and the beacon, etc. But the house Gods would not be satisfied – next the water heater blew out. With the help of Mark Liddell and Mike Haddock we found a rare propane water to replace ours, located in Stockton, and within 48 hrs. the Club had a new water heater! In spite of all of the above we still managed to hold 3 private parties and the Commodores Ball.

I sure hope this not the norm and things will quiet down a bit. Please stop by and see what has been accomplished, and enjoy your club. We have added 4 draft beer taps for your pleasure, and are trying to provide good dining options. I would like to thank all who helped me during this period – you know who you are.

We also had a great Super Bowl party with over 90 members and guest watching in the game, and partaking in crab, hot dogs, and hamburgers; many thanks to Linnea and Faye.

The kitchen will be closed March 9, 10 and 11 for floor maintenance; also, March 17th is the scheduled Spring Clean-up with the St Patrick’s Party that night.
