THANK YOU!… to all the members and friends attending the Art Sale and Raffle. We had strong competition from beautiful weather, sports fans and season ticket-holders as one season opened and another concluded. Every self-respecting sailor had to love A Day On the Bay like that one! Results were gratifying, proving a large group can move about easily and this building can handle almost any type of event. I realized enough to cover expenses and move about a quarter of the graphics gathering dust on my shelves. Best part–I am especially happy to see my favorites in the hands of my friends!
By now you know the winners in the Raffle. Four of the five were CPYC members! The first winner was the friend of a guest and the other 4 were Luther Izmirian, Jocelyn Swanson, Jack Willey and Dick Sponholz! The nice thing about the raffle is that they were from my framed collection of favorites — so they’re not “gone” as far as I’m concerned. I still have one of each, and enjoy knowing the others now belong to friends.
I don’t have Raffle figures, but my hope to “Go Over The Top” was probably ambitious considering the increments were only $2.50 per ticket. We’re all eager to end “The Elevator”chapter in CPYC history
in the meantime thanks to all of you. Our building is a remarkable example of San Mateo’s biggest secret. An excellent location and size for intimate family and civic events– handles larger groups well—shows, seminars, award dinners, weddings, christenings, memorials—all the ingredients needed when seeking revenue to perpetuate the pleasures we share as members.
A Big, Appreciative Thank You to Susan Simmons, Mark and Linnea Liddell, Jocelyn Swanson, Doris Borg–and especially Fred Schreuder for his gift of music! I’m glad to have all of them by my side!
