Art Piece for Raffle – Wood Nymph

Often the media controls the start of a print. I had a fence board and within its grain, I saw the figure of a woman, standing under a shady forest waterfall. The inspiration was the wood grain and a rubbing of that became the first stencil. Once the background was laid down and the figure added, the foliage ‘grew’ with each subsequent stencil–until we could tell she had a private hide-away all to herself for her personal ablutions. The transparency of the inks allows the viewer to sense the moisture and solitude along with a gentle awareness of seclusion.

If you like ‘real’ art in a variety of subjects, come to the Club on Sunday, September 18 from 1:30 to 4:30!  Several have asked about acquiring some of Jan Miller’s serigraphs (3 of which are owned by, and displayed in the Club).  Now is the time!  There will be 40 serigraphs, each a different subject matter, all signed–some only 1 or 2 remaining in the edition, some more.  A few are matted and framed, several matted-only, but EACH of the 40 subjects has at least 1 or 2 ‘nude’ — (no mat, no frame, for you to (choose the style and presentation  best suited to your home). All art will be priced for sale.

Five of her framed prints are donated for the Club’s Raffle.  Photos of each are displayed on the CPYC Blog and, later, physically in the Club foyer. Tickets are available starting August 30, priced at:  1 ticket @ $2.50  6 tickets for $10.00, and 10  tickets for 20.00.  The raffle is for CPYC’s “Burn The Mortgage” fund– the last of the debt on the elevator.

Included will be a step-by-step display of stages — “Building a Print”– showing how a print is made; explaining an Edition; the ‘custom’ when numbering and signing graphics.  Light refreshments, lovely music and — A new way to use and benefit the Club!  Jan’s desire to reduce her art becomes your/our opportunity.
