Commodore’s Report

4th of July 2011 034Well, it looks like summer has finally arrived. We had great weather for our annual July 4th/Club Birthday Party and we are finally getting fair weather for the Wednesday night Beer Can Races. It is great to see the regatta room filled to capacity on Wednesday nights. Skippers, we can use some more boats to accommodate our guests.

On the business end, the Constitution Committee is working on a few amendments to help clarify certain articles, to amend the rules governing some classes of membership and to update the Constitution where needed. The Constitution Committee recommends changes to the Board of Directors. Once the board approves the amendments they are presented to the membership at the November general membership meeting for approval. At the next general membership meeting we shall discuss some of these proposed amendments. Early discussion will allow ample time for debate and proper drafting of the proposed amendments. I want to underline the importance of attending the general membership meetings. Membership meetings are where you can go to find out what is happening at the club. This is your opportunity to ask questions and to be heard. If you depend on the rumor mill you will most likely be ill informed.

I wish to thank all of the members who have been helping out around the club house. I am not mentioning names for fear of leaving someone out. One can see the work that has been done from boat repairs to mowing the lawn, painting, and then there are the things that go un-seen such as dumping the trash on Wednesday nights. Again thank you all. If you would like to help with club maintain please contact house chairman Aaron Neuhauser there is plenty of work to go around. See you at the club or on the water, let’s enjoy the rest of the summer and have fun at the club.
