Dear Friends & Fellow Club Members,
Gerald W. MacKay, RADM USN (Ret.) 1936-2017
Early morning on August 10, 2017 our dear friend Jerry passed away peacefully in his sleep. Jerry had been an active member of our club for about 25 years. He was involved in many activities, especially in countless cruise outs on his yacht, the AT EASE, always with his wife Linda at his side. He worked hard at the construction of the elevator, the sprucing up of the club and introduced the “White Jacket” in 1990, which was awarded to a skipper who ran aground for the second year in a row on the same sand bar in front of the Napa YC. Since then the jacket has been passed from one skipper to another when, in the opinion of the prior recipient of the erstwhile fraternity, a boner mistake is worthy of the passing of the jacket. Jerry would volunteer when-ever called upon. He contributed with wisdom and calmness to the success of meetings. His sense of humor and firm but gentle demeanor helped guide the club in all of it’s endeavors. Jerry, you will be missed by all that have had the pleasure to know you. On September 21, 2017 a Funeral Mass will be held at 1600 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 880 Tamarack Ave, San Carlos, CA and a Celebration of Life at 1800 at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos.
