The weekend-long event began with the kick-off dinner Friday at CPYC which was a combined effort of Yvette Yong, our Vice-Commodore and Poplar Creek. The theme for the weekend was Pioneer Days – to be in sync with Redwood City celebrating their 150th year.
Everyone enjoyed dinner and conversation at CPYC Friday night.
This is a great spot to take a picture of the Commodores from each Club
The next morning everyone sailed down to Sequoia for their breakfast
Then off to the docks to watch the boat parade
Our own Shannon, with Mark Bettis and Catherine Miskow as captain and crew, won two prizes: Best flat over 30′ and the Spectators Choice Trophy for Best Decorated Boat – Congratulations!
During the day there were displays in the parking lot:
Even Ms. Redwood City was on hand to watch the festivities
Lunch was at Sequoia Yacht Club and a great band played on the back deck
After some afternoon relaxation, we all wandered to Peninsula Yacht Club for a great steak dinner and dancing to a wonderful blues band
The weekend events ended with a brunch at South Bay Yacht Club on Sunday, where we were entertained with another band.
This year’s South Bay Opening Day weekend was a great success!
