How Not To Go Around a Racing Mark

Here is the sail track of Sweet Grapes rounding “8” on Sunday. We were trying to drop the 150% jib in 27 knots of breeze and replace it with the 85% jib. Unfortunately the 150 wrapped around the forestay, forcing us to gybe below the mark, followed by  difficulty in raising the 85 while avoiding colliding with “8”. In essence we were forced to round the mark twice. A lesson about what not to do during a race!
