The strong vertical push in this print feeds the perception everyone has of the Sequoia -profound height, size and power– the behemoths of the forest. Sunlight and ground vegetation is scarce—shielded by the dense foliage high above. Occasionally a ray of sunlight falls in one spot long enough to allow colorful wild flowers to grow and bloom brightly in its warm rays. Such is my sense of this print. The title is from Edmond Spenser’s: ”The Fairie Queen” Canto 3, Stanza 4:
“Her angel’s face As the great eye of heaven shyned bright, And made a sunshine in the shadie place.”
If you like ‘real’ art in a variety of subjects, come to the Club on Sunday, September 18 from 1:30 to 4:30! Several have asked about acquiring some of Jan Miller’s serigraphs (3 of which are owned by, and displayed in the Club). Now is the time! There will be 40 serigraphs, each a different subject matter, all signed–some only 1 or 2 remaining in the edition, some more. A few are matted and framed, several matted-only, but EACH of the 40 subjects has at least 1 or 2 ‘nude’ — (no mat, no frame, for you to (choose the style and presentation best suited to your home). All art will be priced for sale.
Five of her framed prints are donated for the Club’s Raffle. Photos of each are displayed on the CPYC Blog and, later, physically in the Club foyer. Tickets are available starting August 30, priced at: 1 ticket @ $2.50 6 tickets for $10.00, and 10 tickets for 20.00. The raffle is for CPYC’s “Burn The Mortgage” fund– the last of the debt on the elevator.

Light refreshments, lovely music and — A new way to use and benefit the Club! Jan’s desire to reduce her art becomes your/our opportunity.
